At the peak of the Iraq War In 2004, many children lived homeless on the streets with nowhere to go.
Eager to shelter children from the furry of war and chaos, Hisham Al Dahabi opened his heart, and home to a group of homeless children, providing them with necessary health care, psychological support and education.
He harnessed the power of art and creativity to heal wounds and encourage them to express themselves. Through support and donations, Al Dahabi relocated to a bigger home, dubbed “The Iraqi House of Creativity”. Some of the House’s 150 graduates have gone on to win over 50 art awards in Iraq and over 28 international awards.
Today, Hisham hosts 33 children in his warm Iraqi home, meeting all their needs from shelter, food, education to reading bedtime stories and guiding them through life like a father would. Thanks to him, and his unwavering hope, these children can sleep with better hopes for tomorrow.
