Kuwaiti group transforms barren walls into vibrant murals

It was by chance that the 'Jedareyat' team was established to spread colors and beauty across Kuwait.

Suleiman Al Roudhan was on his way to a government meeting in Kuwait when he spotted offensive graffiti on the walls of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.

Posting the distorted wall on social media to share his views of the incident with his followers, Al Roudhan was astonished when Her Excellency Hind Al Sabeeh, Minister of State for Social Affairs and Labor, contacted him to investigate the matter.

She advised Al Roudhan to form a volunteering group of young graffiti artists who could transform buildings of Kuwait into large pieces of art.

The 'Jedareyat' volunteering team came to life in January 2016.

The team seeks to decorate neglected spaces to minimise visual pollution in Kuwait's urban environment, while adding aesthetic beauty to public spaces, promoting creativity and art, and allowing young people to display their talents through creative means.

The project also aims to foster a culture of volunteerism among youth.

Thanks to talented volunteering artists, the 'Jedareyat' team has transformed walls of Kuwait into vibrant murals, creating new cultural landmarks. The group has attracted numerous young people interested in taking part of beautifying their city.

Driven by deep passion of spreading beauty, 'Jedareyat' hopes to leave its mark on every wall for art presents another facet of happiness and hope.
